Skin loses its elasticity as we age naturally consequence arms
and thighs, in
particular, tend to lose their muscle tone and firmness and the
layers of muscle
and fat become thinner. Substantial weight loss can also leave
flabby skin
around the arms and thighs. An arm or thigh lift can help to restore
and tighten
these areas, giving you a firmer, more youthful look and enabling
you to wear
clothing or swimwear with improved confidence.
If you want to remove loose or sagging skin on your legs
or upper arms, a thigh lift or arm lift could be the answer.
What Does the Procedure Involve?
In the arm lift, incisions are made along the inner arm,
extending from the
armpit to the elbow. The length of the scar will depend on the
amount
of excess skin to be removed to achieve your particular requirements.
The skin is then separated from the underlying fat, muscle and
excess skin is carefully removed.
In thigh lift surgery, an incision is made along the inside
of the inner thigh,
which may extend from the front towards the back. Excess skin
is then
carefully removed. A firm garment is applied for 2-4 weeks.
There is limited mobility for the first 1-2 weeks.
Patients undergoing arm lift or thigh lift surgery can go home
after one night.
What happens after arm or thigh lift surgery?
The areas operated on will initially feel tight and swollen.
The swelling is mild to moderate, and peaks at two to three days.
Usually, the sutures are covered with adhesive strips and surgical
gauze.
Mobility after your thigh lift treatment.
Because of the incisions for this treatment, it is impossible
to avoid lying
on them. Careful position change every 30 minutes is important
preventing
as little stress on the incision lines as possible.
Swelling and Bruising
Any swelling or bruising generally subsides after two to three
weeks.
A garment is issued and to be worn for two to four weeks this
will help to
alleviate any swelling.
When can I resume my normal activities?
Recovery time varies from person to person.
Your surgeon will advise you to take two to three weeks off work.
