Types of boob jobs, breast enlargement (augmentation)
Implants:
There are currently two different types of implant available
- silicone & saline.
Silicone implants including the latest tear shape design
are widely used as
they give a more natural shape and feel. A booklet entitled
"Breast Implants",
produced by the Department of Health, is available in a
PDF format to view
and/or download here, or from your clinic to accompany
this information,
and provides a full understanding of your breast implants
clinical safety
studies and advice on breast feeding.
Recovery from a boob job (breast enlargement0 surgery:
Following the surgery, you will need to keep your breasts
well supported.
Your stitches and/or dressings will be removed after seven
days, at which
time you can return to work. You may also have drainage
tubes in your breasts;
these will be removed the day after your surgery, before
you go home.
Your breasts will be firm and swollen at first, and will
take several weeks to
settle and adapt a more natural position and feel. By wearing
your sports bra,
you will feel more comfortable and have the necessary support.
Why have a boob job ?
At the Royal Clinic we are able to help you achieve the
look you have always
wanted. Every year in the UK thousands of women choose a
boob job,
breast augmentation to successfully achieve:
- An improved balance in size and body shape
- A fuller breast shape or size, for example, after having
children
- Correction of uneven breasts (asymmetry)
- Greater ease in finding clothing that fits evenly across
the chest
A boob job (breast enlargement) can bring psychological
benefits for women
who feel their breasts are unwomanly or inadequate and can
help restore
lost self-esteem to improve your quality of life. A boob
job can help you achieve
the femine figure of your dreams and give you the confidence
to wear
the clothes you choose.
Your Boob Job Consultation:
Your free boob job consultation is with an experienced
Patient Co-ordinator.
We will give you as much information as necessary to enable
you to make
an informed decision. You will have the opportunity to discuss
detailed aspects
of the breast enlargement operation with your Surgeon.
(You can even try a few implants under your clothes to see
the size that
suits you!) Our Surgeons are General Medical Council (GMC)
registered and
fully accredited as well as being members of affiliated
bodies and societies.
Recovering from a boob job:
We provide a comprehensive aftercare package with all procedures.
When you return home after having breast enlargement surgery
it is essential
that you get adequate rest. However, you should not take
to your bed but
remain gently mobile and active. You need to avoid bending,
stooping,
strenuous exercise, lifting heavy objects, swimming and
vacuuming for a
minimum of six weeks. You will need to take approximately
one week off work.
However, everybody heals and recovers at different rates.
You should not wear
your normal bra following surgery but a supportive sports
bra. Your Surgeon
will advise you on the size you will need and you may be
required to wear it both
day & night for the first few weeks following your breast
enlargement surgery.
Your Comprehensive AfterCare:
At the Royal Clinic we offer an unrivalled level of post-operative
patient care
after your breast enlargement procedure, with a 24 hour
medical helpline.
We are dedicated to ensuring a fast recovery with an extensive
aftercare
package that is available to you at no extra cost. The package
covers all
post-operative instructions, care leaflets and information,
as well as
details of all follow-up appointments with your Surgeon.
What is the Recovery Time?
This will depend on the individual patient however most
patients are able to go
back to work after a couple of days. Although you can walk
about and do very
light activities from the next day, it is advisable not
to do anything strenuous
for 7-10 days. (The average recovery time is between 1-2
weeks).
