With ageing and frowning our brows begins to ultimately leading
to hooding
of the sides of the upper eyelids and a tired lived-in look. Our
brow posture
determines the way our mood is subconsciously perceived by others.
A low brow with marked glabellar creases is usually taken to
indicate tiredness,
frustration, anger or irritability. Brow Lift or Forehead Lift
Procedure is a
specialist aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery procedure performed to
overcome
the adverse effects of ageing, repetitive muscle activity and
sun exposure on
the forehead, brow and upper eyelid area.
The ultimate objective of performing a Brow Lift Procedure is
to correct a
drooping brow and upper eyelid, improve horizontal brow lines
and to smooth
out the forehead and any furrows from above the bridge of the
nose.
Patients who consider a brow lift
- Middle aged/older men and women who are unhappy
with their general ageing appearance.
- Younger men and women who suffer from premature lines,
wrinkles and drooping caused by excessively strong and
active frown muscles.
- Men & Women who prematurely age because of sun exposure,
smoking and/or hereditary factors.
Brow lift procedure
A Brow Lift Procedure can be performed using either a conventional
and traditional incision technique or by Keyhole Surgery.
Conventional Incision Method:
using a traditional coronal surgical method, in which a long
thin 'head phone like" incision will be hidden just behind
the hairline. Working through this incision the skin of the forehead
is carefully lifted to so that the excess underlying tissue can
be removed and the muscles of the forehead and upper eye can be
realigned to create a smoother and more youthful appearance.
Keyhole Surgery Technique:
is similar to the above but with the aid of an endoscope (a
pencil slim viewing
instrument) that will allow the procedure to be performed through
four or five
'keyhole' incisions rather than a long continuous incision.
This method is especially suited for men and women with a thin
or receding
hairline as the likelihood of visible scarring after surgery is
greatly reduced.
A brow lift is performed either under general anaesthetic or
local with sedation
and takes around one hour to perform.
