Liposuction, often referred
to as fat removal, liposculpture or lipoplasty, could be
the ideal way for you to eliminate pockets of fat or sagging skin
from your figure.
If after dieting and exercise, yet still can't seem to remove
areas of fat,
liposuction could be the only option available to you. In addition,
if you've
recently lost a lot of weight and found yourself with patches
of excess skin,
liposuction could be the ideal fat removal method to re-shape
your physique
and install that extra confidence.
Liposuction can act as a fat removal procedure for a range of
bodily locations,
including your abdomen (tummy), thighs, hips, calves, ankles and
your chin.
So wherever you'd like the fat removal process to begin, our expert
liposuction
surgeon's could give you the body you want.
How is fat removal performed?
It is possible to perform liposuction on several areas of the
body at the same
time. Most common areas treated are abdomen, buttocks. hips, thighs,
knees, calves and ankles as well as chin, neck and jowls.
Liposuction removes unwanted fat by using vacuum suction.
The fatty deposits are injected with quantities of a solution
of local anesthetic
and saline. The fat is sucked out through a fine hollow tube called
a cannula,
or in some cases by syringe (liposculpture).
What happens after liposuction surgery?
After your procedure you will wear an elastic compression garment
this
is to compress the tunnels made by the cannula in the fat layers.
You must keep this on at all times for about five days.
After this you will wear the garment according to your surgeon's
advice.
Depending on the area treated, most people are back to work between
three
and seven days. Healing is a gradual process and you will find
that as the
swelling subsides; your new shape will emerge. This may take up
to three
months. Liposuction is a highly effective method of recontouring
your body
and giving you the shape you want. Naturally, it is important
to watch your diet
and take every step to maintain your current weight.
However, the results of liposuction are permanent and you will
find that if you do
gain weight you will tend to retain your new shape - without the
former bulges.
When can I resume my normal activities?
Recovery time varies from person to person.
Your surgeon will advise you to take two to three weeks off work.
