Hair Loss Treatments from Royal Clinic . .
The experience of thinning hair resulting in various forms of hair
loss
and baldness can be a very emotional experience for any man or woman.
The effects of hair loss can cause irritation & anxiety resulting
in general loss
of confidence in ones appearance in relationships and career development.
The most common form of hair loss known as Androgenetic Alopecia affects
up
to 80% of the male population. For those who are prone to hair loss,
the male
hormone 'testosterone' is converted into the androgen 'Dihydrotestosterone',
or 'DHT', by an enzyme called 5-alpha reductase. It is the effect of
this DHT
that inhibits the growth of new hair cells, which in turn leads to male
hair loss
producing thinner, finer hairs and in many cases, eventual baldness.
Hereditary and genetic factors along with ones general health, stress
& diet all
have a part to play in how we continue top keep our hair and its overall
condition.

The Hair Growth Cycle
About 90 percent of the hair on a person's scalp is growing
at any one time.
When a hair is shed, a new hair from the same follicle replaces it and
the
growing cycle starts again. Scalp hair grows about one-half inch a month.
As people age, their rate of hair growth slows.
Natural blondes typically have more hair (140,000 hairs) than brunettes
(105,000 hairs) or redheads (90,000 hairs). Most hair shedding is due
to the
normal hair cycle, and losing 50-to-100 hairs per day is no cause for
alarm.
Three phases
of the hair growth
cycle: Anagen (Growth Phase),
Catagen (Degradation Phase),
Telogen (Resting Phase).
Period of growth (anagen)
between two and eight years are
followed by a brief period, two to
four weeks, in which the follicle is
almost totally degraded (catagen).
The resting phase (telogen) then
begins and last two to four months.
Shedding of the hair occurs only
after the next growth cycle (anagen)
begins and a new shaft begins to
emerge. On average 50-100
telogen hairs are shed every day. |

The Solution - How our Treatment for Male Hair Loss Works
Royal Clinic's individually prescribed combination treatment courses
for
male hair loss have three main purposes; a) to block the DHT hormone
(the cause of male hair loss) from reaching and destroying vulnerable
hair
follicles, b) activating the hair follicles to stimulate and increase
the blood
circulation that is crucially needed to feed and nurture natural hair
growth, c)
to open up potassium channels in the areas of hair loss.
Over time hair loss decreases and the hairs become thicker and longer
giving the appearance of hair growth and a thicker, fuller head of hair.
Prescribed individual treatment courses are also available for female
hair loss.

Hair Follicular Restoration Treatment
Royal Clinic offers one of the most advanced and effective forms of
hair
transplantation available for men and women. We have some of the most
experienced hair transplantation surgeons operating in the UK today
who are
members of the prestigious International Society of Hair Restoration
(ISHR)
and the British Trichological Society (BTSoc), in what is a very specialised
cosmetic surgical procedure. In addition the Royal Clinic has an experienced
team of hair transplant clinical nurses who work alongside our
specialist surgeons.
The Procedure
Hair follicles contain one to four hairs known as grafts.
By implanting individual hair follicles one at a time into the scalp,
a very precise
yet totally natural looking hair transplant can be achieved. The development
of
this method is a huge advance on the original techniques of plug grafting
or
mini and micro grafting. It allows for a single transplant session to
give a very
natural result that copies nature exactly.
The follicular units are taken from areas where there is an abundance
of hair,
i.e. the back and sides of the head. Our surgeons provide expert care
and
the most natural result possible with very little discomfort or downtime.
Once planted these hairs will continue to
grow for the rest of your life.
